This is the shopping area in and around the train station, just a few steps outside my hotel. Lots of shops and restaurants.
Much of the town also has streets closed to traffic.
Anyone need a fascinator? These are tiny "hats" that have become very fashionable in the last decade or so.
The two on the top look like something Princesses Beatrix and Eugenie would wear.
Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding is coming up, so shops are filled with souvenirs.
Got a very cheap small suitcase and a light jacket from Marks and Spencer, then headed out to see the castle, as I was told the church would be closed tomorrow. I have been here before, but it was still enjoyable.
Unfortunately, no photos can be taken inside the castle, so lots of outdoor photos. This seems to be the back door to the castle.
And these are the Royal Mews, which is where the vehicles and the horses are kept.
Barracks, maybe??
This is the main entrance to the castle.
Could not resist this gorgeous lilac bush in full bloom. It smelled wonderful!
The round tower is 800 years old, the oldest part of the castle. Just noticed that the flag flying on the round tower is the Queen's standard, which means she is in residence. See blow-up in next photo.
The photo is a little blurry, but here is an article about the royal standard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Standard_of_the_United_Kingdom
But is has a beautiful garden in the old dry moat.
The far corner is not accessible to tourists as it is where the queen lives.
This is St. George's Chapel, where the Royal wedding is going to take place in two weeks.
Stopped at Marks and Spencer on my way back to hotel to pick up some ham, cheese, cookies, dessert, an apple, and a Coke. Will get ice from hotel. Just don't feel like going out to a restaurant for dinner.
